Camino overview - Start here!
Let's discover Camino in less than 5 minutes.
What is Camino?â
Camino is a recently launched service powered by Bota Bio's cutting-edge synthetic biology technology platform. We have deep scientific expertise and excel in discovering and optimizing enzymes, proteins, and peptides, with a particular emphasis on driving advancements in food and nutrition, alongside industrial and pharmaceutical applications. We provide milligram quantities of enzymes, proteins, and peptides for early testing, and can scale-up to full manufacturing within our collaborative projects.
There are 4 key modules to our service:
Let's launch a new enzyme, protein, or peptide product to the market! Our dedicated team is committed to providing innovative solutions that will accelerate your research and development to the market. We are well-equipped to transform your challenges into biotechnology success stories.
Use Camino because we are FASTâ
Bota Bio's mission is to accelerate the shifts to bio-manufacturing from design to scale to daily life.
Our speed to market is unmatched because our one-stop shop eliminates time lost coordinating between multiple parties. We build libraries, genotype them, and generate high-quality analytics data in-house. We pride ourselves on being able to deliver results in under 3 weeks per cycle. Historically, creating a DNA library alone can take 6-8 weeks.
Here is a real example showing how fast we can move:
Above you can see an enzyme we improved for a customer over ~15 weeks with 5 rounds of evolution. Both Site Saturation Mutagenesis (SSM) and Combinatorial mutagenesis (Combi) were applied. The enzyme was improved a remarkable ~1000x in its activity.
What's with the name Camino?â
Camino refers to a route or journey in Spanish. It's the part of our Bota Freeway dealing with enzymes, proteins, and peptides. We'll be going on a journey together trying to get a new enzyme, protein, or peptide product to the market!
Pictured above is the beautiful and famous Camino de Santiago.
Camino is also a fun word play on the peptide bond: C--amino (NH2). The C- represents the carboxyl group of an amino acid.
